With December almost over, I still have about two or three more months of the off season. I thought that all this time would be consumed by me working on my website and getting my advertising in order, but I was actually able to get most of it done this month. I also just finished my Fall semester two weeks ago, so now i’m just waiting for something to do! Luckily one of my clients, (who is also a friend of mine) owns a restaurant, and he’s letting me work there until Spring. So my first day is today, i’m really excited!
Anyway I start my next semester in a week or so. I go to Utah State University and I study Landscape Design and Construction. I just finished a weed management class that for most people would be the most absolute boringest class you would ever sit in; but for me it was awesome! The class was taught by Professor Ralph Whitesides. This guy has so much passion and love for Weeds, that it’s crazy. And he’s big time!
He is Member or Chair of every major committee for agriculture in Utah. Including advisor to the Governor and he wrote part of the law concerning the Noxious Weed Act.
He has every major Agg vendor drooling at the chance for him to approve their products. He gets all kinds of swag. I tell you all this, because that’s where I want to be someday. Respected by the entire Utah Agriculture industry.
Honestly; I don’t think I will ever get there. I don’t have plans to get any Ph.D’s in plant science or anything like that, I can’t even finish reading a magazine article without getting distracted. My passion lies in my work, business and my customers. So I guess my goal is to someday be respected by those three.
P.S It wouldn’t hurt if Ralph approved Lawn Thumbs either.
